Shape Rush gameplay video

Watch a full run to see how speed climbs, how portals swap your form, and how tight the jump windows get on the harder tracks.

What's Shape Rush game?

Shape Rush sends a blue cube forward on its own while you focus on timing. Spikes, low ceilings, and wall blocks sit on a track that keeps getting faster. Touch anything and the run ends immediately. There are no checkpoints, no revive, and no practice mode. You either reach the finish zone in one clean attempt or start again from the starting point.

Shape Rush is a slope inspired rhythm platformer. Early sections use wider platforms and predictable gaps so you can feel how speed builds. Later sections tighten every jump window until the course feels like a reaction test set to music. Each of the six levels has its own layout, trap pattern, and background track.

Shape Rush keeps the level list short but steep. Difficulty labels on the menu help you pick a starting point.

  • Dream Dash (Easy): Gentle spacing and slower tempo. Best first pick if you want to learn how the cube accelerates.
  • Back On Track 2.0 (Normal): Tighter platform chains with less room between hazards. Reading ahead matters more here.
  • Dry Out 2.0 (Normal): Another normal tier map with longer hazard strings and shorter gaps between jumps.
  • Base After Base 2.0 (Hard): Narrower platforms and faster scroll speed. Late jumps rarely save you.
  • Reapers (Harder): Dense spike clusters and shorter reaction time between obstacles.
  • Club Madness (Harder): The toughest pick in the set. Expect rapid sequences, sharp tempo shifts, and many restarts before a clear.

Portals appear mid level and swap your form without slowing the track. You need to switch input the moment you pass through.

  • Cube: Tap or click to jump over spikes and gaps.
  • Ship: Hold to rise, release to drop. Fly in smooth arcs instead of single hops.
  • Ball: Tap to flip gravity and roll along the floor or ceiling to dodge barriers above and below.

Portals can show up during fast sections, so watch for the next gate and prep the input that matches the form on the other side.

Because forward motion is automatic, your eyes should sit a few platforms ahead. Spot the next spike cluster, plan the jump, then confirm the landing while already scanning the following gap. Players who stare at the character usually react one beat late once speed ramps up.

The soundtrack helps here. Hard sections often align obstacle spikes with drum hits. When visuals blur at high speed, the audio beat can still cue your next tap.

  • Left mouse button: jump or activate the current form.
  • Spacebar or Up Arrow: jump on keyboard.
  • Touchscreen: tap to jump or control the active form.

Stay loose on faster maps. Tense fingers tend to double tap and overshoot short platforms.

  • Replay Dream Dash once if you keep dying early on a hard stage. The slower tempo rebuilds timing confidence.
  • Mark one obstacle that ends most of your runs, then drill that segment until the jump feels automatic.
  • After three quick fails on the same level, take a short break. Fresh eyes often spot the hazard pattern you were missing.

If Shape Rush clicks for you, these picks use related rhythm platform rules with different stage themes:

  • Geometry Dash Meltdown for three fire themed official stages with ship sections and optional practice checkpoints.
  • Egg Dash for holiday styled rhythm maps with collectible side paths.
  • Devil Dash when you want a harder dash challenge after clearing the Shape Rush level set.

How to Play Shape Rush

1
Shape Rush level select screen showing Dream Dash and other stages

Pick a level from the menu

Press Play above to open Shape Rush in your browser. The menu lists six stages from Dream Dash up to Club Madness, each with its own difficulty tag. Start with Dream Dash if you want the slowest intro to movement and timing.

2
Shape Rush cube jumping over spikes on an auto scrolling track

Keep the auto run alive with timed jumps

After you start a stage, your square moves forward on its own. In cube form, one input clears spikes and gaps:

  • Desktop: left click, Space, or to jump.
  • Mobile: tap anywhere on the screen.

Look several platforms ahead and jump before hazards reach you. One touch on a spike, wall, or ceiling ends the run.

3
Shape Rush portal form change near the finish zone

Adapt at portals and finish the course

When a portal hits, adapt to the new form right away. Hold and release for ship flight, tap to flip gravity in ball mode, and return to jump timing in cube form. Stay focused until the finish zone. One crash restarts the whole level.

FAQs about Shape Rush

There are six levels: Dream Dash, Back On Track 2.0, Dry Out 2.0, Base After Base 2.0, Reapers, and Club Madness. Each one has its own layout, music, and difficulty tier.

No. Shape Rush uses a single normal mode only. Any collision restarts the entire level from the beginning, so you need one uninterrupted run to clear a stage.

Portals transform your character into cube, ship, or ball form with different physics. Cube jumps on tap, ship flies with hold and release, and ball reverses gravity on tap so you roll along the floor or ceiling.

Yes. Shape Rush runs in mobile browsers. Tap the screen to jump in cube form, or to control ship and ball forms the same way you would click on desktop.
